India will impose duties on sodium dithionite from China and South Korea

SHS is also known as dithionite concentrate, sodium dithionite or sodium dithionite (Na2S2O4). White or almost white powder, without visible impurities, pungent odor. It can be classified under customs codes 28311010 and 28321020.
Products that use the galvanizing process and the sodium formate process can be used interchangeably in many applications. Domestic industry insiders said that although denim (textile) industry users prefer zinc process products due to their low dust generation and good stability, the number of such users is limited and most consumers use these products in rotation. According to the official notification, it has been sent to DGTR.
In the textile industry, sodium dithionite is used for dyeing vat and indigo dyes, and for bath cleaning of synthetic fiber fabrics to remove dyes.
A year ago, the DGTR began an anti-dumping investigation and now recommends levying an ADD equivalent to the lesser of the dumping margin and damage margin to remedy the damage to the domestic industry.
The agency is proposing a tariff of C$440 per metric ton (MT) on secondhand smoke originating in or exported from China. He also proposed a levy of $300 per ton for SHS originating in or exported from South Korea.
The DGTR said that the ADD will remain in force for a period of five years from the date of notification by the Government of India in this regard.
